In order to conduct backflow assembly tests a person must be certified by Washington State as a certified backflow assembly tester.

The initial tests consists of two parts:
          1 ➞ hands-on/practical exam
          2 ➞ written exam.  

Every three year reporting period you must pass your professional growth by passing the hands-on/practical exam during the reporting period.  There are a few organizations that provide classes to help aspiring backflow assembly tester to pass their exam.

Once you are certified and have your backflow assembly test kit (aka gauge), you are ready to conduct backflow assembly testing.
